Check Favorite Items in NPC Logbook

Before you hand out gifts, be sure to check out the NPC Logbook to find out a specific NPC's favorite items. You can find this in the History tab of the Pause Menu. Once you're in the NPC Logbook, scroll over to any NPC you've already met to check out their Likes.

An NPC will approve and like an item if they exaggerate or if they respond with a positive dialogue.

Types of Items an NPC Likes

  • Beautiful Items - Flowers, Shards, and anything aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
  • Fancy Items - expensive items obtained from merchants like rings and potions.
  • Interesting Items - weapons, armor, and monster parts like bones.
  • Adorable Items - Beetles, Flowers, and Shards
  • Rare Items - items that are uncommon drops from monsters.
  • Expensive Items - usually items that are priced at a high amount from merchants and stores.

What Does Giving Gifts Do?

Raises Affinity

Dragons Dogma 2 - Ulrika

Giving gifts to an NPC raises your affinity with them once per day. Having a high enough affinity with an NPC unlocks some special perks, such as getting a discount if you have a high bond with a shopkeeper.

Romance NPCs, like Ulrika, can also give you gifts in return if you have high affinity with them—provided that you have a house in Vernworth from the A Place to Call Home quest for them to deliver the gifts.
