How to Lower Ladders from High Areas

Reaching Ladders in Higher Areas

Find an Alternative Route

Dragon

Press the “Lower Ladder” prompt to lower ladders once you get close to it. Unfortunately, getting there is the tougher problem to solve.

The first option is to find an alternative route to reach the ladders in high areas, as ladders are mostly shortcuts from another location.

If you or your pawn cannot reach a ladder, there's most likely an alternative route towards that spot.

Use the 'Go!' Command

Sometimes, your Pawn will suggest an idea to reach a high or otherwise hard-to-reach area. Some of these ideas are pointing out ladders in high areas and suggesting how to reach them. Use the “Go!” command to prompt them to follow through with the idea.

Afterward, this pawn will assist you on reaching the ladder by reaching it themselves with Levitate and dropping down the ladder or boosting you to that area with Springboard.

Other than your pawn dialogue, you can tell if your pawn suggests something by the exclamation marks on the map.

Use Vocation Skills

Dragon

A few skills from different vocations can assist in reaching ladders from high areas.

The Mage's Levitate Core Skill allows them to move while suspended in mid-air to cross over gaps in terrain.

The Springboard Weapon Skill from the Fighter vocation launches an ally into the air, allowing them to reach flying monsters and, more importantly, in this case, higher areas with ladders.

If you wish to change vocations, you may do so in Vocation Guilds.

How to Change Vocations

Ride A Flying Monster

The least reliable method of reaching high areas with ladders on them is to grab hold of a flying monster and jump toward the high ground.

Not only is this method unreliable, but it is also unnecessary. As this is an unintended method to do, the other options mentioned above will be enough to reach any ladders from high areas.

However, this may prove very useful in extremely niche situations and locations.
