Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2)

The Arisen's Shadow Walkthrough and Location

The Arisen's Shadow is a side quest in Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Read our guide for a walkthrough on where to find your stalker, if you should accept or refuse his offer, as well as the rewards and unlock conditions.

How to Start The Arisen's Shadow

Speak with Captain Brant in The Stardrop Inn

Speak with Captain Brant in The Stardrop Inn at night after completing a few quests. Exhaust his dialogue until he mentions someone stalking you around Vernworth to receive the quest.

How to Complete The Arisen's Shadow

  1. Roam Around Vernworth
  2. Deal with Bermudo
  3. Demand Compensation from Bermudo
  4. Refuse Bermudo's Offer
  5. Speak with Brant After Three Days

Roam Around Vernworth

Captain Brant will tell you to try roaming around Vernworth to draw out the stalker. If your pawns mention that they feel like someone's tracking you, then it means your stalker is close.

A hooded man named Bermudo will eventually approach you to assassinate you. If you're fast enough, you can grab him before he draws his weapons. Otherwise, you'll need to chase him and then grab him.

Deal with Bermudo

After roughing up Bermudo, he'll tell you that someone has hired him to report on your comings and goings.

Exhaust his dialogue, and you'll need to make a choice: Refuse to let him go or demand compensation.

Demand Compensation from Bermudo

If you demand compensation, Bermudo will offer you some gold for his freedom, and you'll have one last chance to take the other option.

If you accept his offer, he'll give you 5000 Gold and will escape afterwards, ending the quest automatically.

Refuse Bermudo's Offer

If you refuse Bermudo's offer, he'll make a last stand and attack you. Eventually, Captain Brant will step in to stop your fight, and he'll take Bermudo into custody.

A cutscene will then play where Brant explains that Bermudo was hired by a mysterious benefactor from Battahl and will require 3 days to interrogate the agent.

What Happens if You Kill Bermudo?

It's possible to accidentally kill Bermudo if you deal enough damage to him before Brant steps in. When this happens, you'll need to revive him with a Wakestone to progress the quest.

If you need to leave Vernmoth to look for Wakestone Shards and Bermudo's body vanishes, you'll need to head to the Morgue and look for his body to revive him.

How to Get Wakestones

Speak with Brant After Three Days

After waiting for 3 days, head to the Stardrop Inn at night and speak with Captain Brant and choose the Tell me of the captured agent dialogue option.

Finish his dialogue to complete the quest, and you'll receive 4000 Gold.

Refuse or Demand Compensation from Bermudo?

Either Decision Has No Consequence

Refusing or demanding compensation from Bermudo once you catch him doesn't seem to have any effect on the story other than how much gold you'll receive at the end of the quest.

Demanding compensation from Bermudo offers a higher gold reward and also finishes the quest early, but you won't find out that a mysterious individual from Battahl is tracking your movements.

If you refuse his offer, you'll need to wait 3 days to complete the quest, and you'll also get a smaller amount of gold. Both options seem to have no long-term repercussions on the story, but we recommend just accepting his gold if you want to finish the quest early and get more gold.

Should You Let Bermudo Go?
