Treasure Chests are scattered all over the world and may contain items and equipment like weapons and armor that you might find useful.
| Chest Rewards Overview | |
|---|---|
| Reward Type | Description |
| Weapons | Mid- to late-game weapons that may outperform shop equipment when obtained early. |
| Armor | Defensive gear with higher stats or better scaling than vendor armor. |
| Enhancement Materials | Rare materials used for weapon and armor upgrades. |
| Wakestone Shard | Rare revival materials that can appear in specific Treasure Chests under certain conditions. |
| Rift Crystals | Small amounts of Rift Crystals used for Pawn-related services and Rift interactions. |
| Large Gold Rewards | Significant gold amounts that reduce the need for farming or selling items. |

Treasure Chests hidden behind platforming challenges, narrow ledges, or vertical terrain are often placed intentionally and tend to contain better rewards.
Dead ends, side routes, and optional caves frequently house Treasure Chests with more valuable loot than those found along the main story path.
If a Treasure Chest is protected by powerful monsters or located in a high-level zone, it is usually worth the risk.
Traveling with a full party of Pawns makes Treasure Chest hunting easier and faster. Pawns will actively scout the surrounding area, point out nearby Treasure Chests, and help clear enemies guarding valuable loot.
Pawns can also open Treasure Chests on their own while exploring. Any items obtained are automatically added to the party’s inventory, so you will not miss rewards even if a Pawn opens a chest before you do. This makes full-party exploration especially effective when searching large or dangerous areas.

Treasure Chests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 do not respawn in the traditional sense and do not generate new loot once opened. Most chests can only be looted once per playthrough.
While Treasure Chests do not normally respawn, some chests have been confirmed to produce Wakestone Shards more than once during the same playthrough. These chests do not reset their original loot, but can later generate Wakestone Shards under specific conditions.
Examples include certain chests found in Ulrika’s house in Melve and the Vernworth Charnel House, which can be looted multiple times for Wakestone Shards.
This behavior appears to be limited to specific chests and should not be treated as a universal respawn mechanic for all Treasure Chests.
Note: This interactive map does not include every Treasure Chest location. Some chests may be missing due to the size of the world and ongoing discoveries.
