Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2)

Should You Buy a Round?

Dragon
Buying rounds in Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2) has no apparent effects but may raise your affinity with other NPCs. Check out more details on whether you should buy rounds here!

Should You Buy a Round?

Does Nothing Immediate

Buying rounds in taverns is one of the unexplained mechanics in the game. It is not recommended to buy a round as each one costs 2,000 G and seemingly does nothing Immediately.

No significant and confirmable changes could be noted after buying rounds based on our experience with different playthroughs.

Buying Rounds May Raise Affinity

From our data from different playthroughs, we checked how early you can raise your affinity with Brant enough for him to give you a gift.

In one playthrough where we didn't buy rounds, Brant gave his first gift after completing most of the quests he gives you.

In another playthrough, however, where we did buy rounds, Brant gave his first gift only after one of his first missions, Monster Culling. Although, this may have been affected by completing other side quests in Vernworth.

Not a Recommended Method to Increase Affinity

If buying rounds does raise affinity, it is still not recommended to increase affinity, especially with Brant, due to cheaper and more efficient ways to raise affinity.

Brant is one of the easier NPCs to raise affinity with due to all the quests you can complete from him, and there are far cheaper methods to increase affinity with NPCs, such as giving them their preferred gifts.
