Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2)

Why Do Guards Attack Randomly? Wanted System Explained

Dragon
Guards will attack you if you commit a crime in Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2), which they will remember for some time. Check out why guards attack randomly and if there's a wanted/infamy system here.

Why Do Guards Attack Randomly?

You've Committed a Crime

Dragon

Dubious acts such as trespassing or assault, will be met with hostility when caught by guards.

In some quests, such as The Caged Magistrate, you may be asked to enter restricted areas to complete the quest, which will be met with aggression when caught and may lead you to serve time in jail.

How to Get Out of Jail

Guards Remember Crimes You Commit

If a guard suddenly attacks you, this is likely because they remember you committing a crime. These guards will only stop their aggression once you have been defeated or have fled.

How to Stop Guards Attacking

Past the Time to Reset Guards' Behavior

Dragon

If you repeatedly encounter this situation in a specific area, you may pass the time for a whole day by any means to reset the guard's behavior.

However, since passing the time may affect quests, you may also consider avoiding the area entirely for a time and do other activities or quests.

Is There a Wanted System?

No Complex Wanted or Infamy System

Dragon
While there is no wanted or infamy system in the game, NPCs, especially guards, will react and remember crimes you have committed for a time.

Regardless, they quickly forget such crimes as passing the time for a few days removes their aggression towards you.

Committing crimes against certain NPCs, however, may affect your affinity with them.
