The best bow you can get early on is the Veteran's Arc from Celeste's Smithy in Checkpoint Rest Town. It's fairly affordable and sports good strength. If you're lacking in gold, the Savage Fang and Bespoke Bow are decent options early on.

Strike Strength: 100
Knockdown Power: 220

The Predator is a good bow that can help you throughout the midgame. It's fairly light and has decent stats to remain usable until you can get the Dragon's Blink.

Of the bows we've confirmed, the Hydra Husk has the highest strength among the bows. It's also much heavier compared to other bows, so the Dragon's Rancor can be considered if weight is a concern. Note that both these bows are only available in the postgame, so your alternatives for the first playthrough are either the Revenant Wail or Dragon's Blink.

Can Be Equipped on Archer Pawns

Your Archer Pawns can also equip and use bows you get during your adventures. You can give them a better bow, so they can be more helpful during battle!

Pawns System Explained

Can Fire Specialized Arrows

Dragon
Bows can also shoot specialized arrows, like Poison Arrows or Ice Arrows, through Weapon Skills. It will make a normal arrow deal more damage when drawn using a Weapon Skill.

Note that some Weapon Skills require a specific arrow before you can shoot it. You can easily find different arrows through shops and vendors.

Wasnt there a stronger bow at the elven village weapon shop? I got the manticore tusk by completing the quest from an archer near the weapon shop at Vernworth, all of this pretty early in the game.

The bows listed after the Revenant Wail do have higher strengths, but are only available after completion of the game. After you complete the game, these will unlock at certain vendors for your next playthrough. That's why for a first playthrough the Revenant Wail is technically the best.
