How to Beat the Griffin

How to Beat the Griffin

Focus on the Wings

Dragon

Griffins are known for their prowess in aerial movement and attacks. To remove their ability to fly, focus on their wings! They are considered weak spots where you can deal significantly more damage while having the ability to remove their flight.

Look to climb to their wings and hack away at them, or aim for them while using the Archer vocation!

Archer Best Skills and Builds

Weak to Fire

Dragon

Since Dragon's Dogma 1, Griffins keel over when they are hit with fire attacks as their feathers are highly flammable. When they are in the air, engulfing them in flame will often send a Griffin crashing down to the ground.

Climb When Flying

Dragon

When reaching certain health thresholds, a Griffin will attempt to fly away from the battle to flee. To avoid this, look to grab them as they fly to steer off their course and keep them in battle.

Avoid Their Lightning Spell

Griffins are infamous for their control of Lightning Spells. When they are trying to cast the spell, they will grow a purple hue. Portions of the area will also emanate that same color to warn you of the attack. Immediately reposition to avoid getting stun-locked.

Reserve Stamina Curatives

To beat the Griffin, you will often climb onto it to keep it on the ground. As there is a chance that the Griffin will fly while you are climbing on it, losing stamina is almost guaranteed. Look to bring stamina curatives to avoid falling to your demise.

For the item drops they can also drop a great griffin claw. I just got one of them from my first griffin kill yesterday.
