How to Raise Affinity

How to Raise Affinity

Give Gifts to NPCs

Dragon

Giving gifts to NPCs will raise affinity with them, especially if you give them items that they prefer over others. You can check what items an NPC likes by going to the NPC Logbook in the History tab of the Pause Menu.

Generally, a Heartfelt Pendant and a Bunch of Flowers are the most effective gifts you can give to an NPC to increase their affection!

How to Give Gifts

Completing Certain Quests

Dragons Dogma 2 - Affinity Quest

Another way to increase affinity is by completing NPC-specific side quests. There are some NPCs that you can reach the maximum affinity possible just by doing quests related to them.

In addition, Romance NPCs require you to finish a set of quests for them before you can begin raising your affinity with them.

Finish Their Escort Quest

Dragon
Specific NPCs such as Doireann and Glyndwr will ask the Arisen if they could escort them to a select location on the map without an oxcart. Despite being unable to use an oxcart, you can use a Ferrystone to teleport close to the location and quicken the process!

Completing this escort quest rewards you a significant amount of affinity, along with 120 Rift Crystals (RC) and a Bunch of Flowers! If the quest fails, the escortee will return to their original location.

How to Get Ferrystones

Choose the Correct Decision During a Quest

Dragons Dogma 2 - Delivering Grimoires to Trysha
On certain quests, choosing a specific course of action will alter the amount of affinity you gain for an NPC. If you want to raise affinity with an NPC, choose a decision that ultimately favors that NPC during a quest!

For example, there is the case during the Sorcerer's Appraisal quest. If you were to choose to give all five authentic grimoires to Myrddin, his affinity will cap out, and you will be able to get his Maister Teachings.

However, if you provide him three authentic grimoires and with two forgeries, you would have to increase his affinity to get his tome.

What Happens When You Raise Affinity?

Receive Gifts from NPCs

Dragon

NPCs with a high affinity towards you will give you items whenever you run into them in town. You can also get special items like Tomes, which grant a pawn a Pawn Specialization.

Receive Items at Home

Dragon

If you have a high affinity with someone, there's a chance you will receive a delivery filled with random items from them right at the doorstep of your house.

How to Get Houses

Receive a Discount at Stores

You can buy items, weapons, and armor at a discounted price if you have a high bond level with the shopkeeper. Expensive items in the shop's catalog will have a higher discount margin when compared to cheaper items.

Receive Maister Teachings

Dragon

If you can maximize your affection with a Vocation Maister, they will pass unto you their teachings in the form of a tome. This tome contains the ultimate skill of their respective Vocation.

How to Check Affinity

Check the Adventure Logbook

You can check the exact number of NPCs that have achieved maximum affinity with the Arisen via the Adventure Logbook. You can find the Adventure Logbook in the History tab.

The NPC Will Blush and Rest in Your Arms

Dragon

NPCs with a maxed affinity will blush when you talk to them and rest in your arms when you grab them. These two telltale signs are the easiest way to know if an NPC likes your character.

However, if an NPC does not like you enough, they will try to break free from your grasp.
