Knock Them Down and Aim for the Belly
Magma Scales have tough rocky exteriors on their back, which are resistant to physical attacks. They are, however, prone to attacks on their belly.
Pin them down and strike their belly with skills such as the Fighter Vocation's Gutting Skewer when they lose balance.
Attack the Tail or Use Strike Weapons
Lighter slashing weapons will often bounce from the Magma Scale's tough exterior. To prevent this, attack their tail or use a striking weapon.

Magma Scales are weak to magic especially Ice elemental magic. Imbue your weapon using Ice Boon from a Mage Pawn, or use powerful ice spells such as Frigor.
