Speak to Ian in Melve

You can start the Brothers Brave and Timid after reaching Melve and starting Seat of the Sovran.

Speak to Ian, who is loitering near Lennart's House, and he'll ask you to help him look for his brother Norbert.

Missable After Starting Readvent of Calamity

We recommend completing this side quest as soon as you reach Melve for the first time since you can't start it anymore once you start Readvent of Calamity.

To avoid missing this side quest, we recommend starting it before you head to Vernworth since Readvent of Calamity triggers when you head back to Melve after visiting Vernworth the first time.

Follow Ian into the Woods

Ian will ask you to follow him to help look for his brother who he last saw near Backwoods Nest Cave.

Save Norbert from the Wolves

Eventually, you'll come upon Norbert being attacked by wolves. Both brothers have the Fighter vocation, but the wolves can still overwhelm them, so make sure to kill the beasts fast to prevent either of the brothers from dying.

We recommend hiring at least one other pawn before heading out to the forest, preferably a Mage or an Archer, depending on you and your main pawn's vocations.

Escort the Brothers to Melve

Dragon
After defeating the wolves and a short cutscene, you'll need to escort both brothers back to Melve. Simply follow the path you took and keep the two brothers safe from any enemies that may spawn.

As soon as you reach Melve, a short cutscene will play, which concludes the quest.

Brothers Brave and Timid Tips and Strategies

The Brothers are Required for Home is Where the Hearth Is

Dragon

The two brothers will play a role in the later quest Home is Where the Hearth Is, which is part of the questline that allows you to romance Ulrika.

If you fail to assist Ian in helping his brother, Norbert will presumably perish in the wolf attack, and Ian will not help you distract the guards to retrieve the weapons from Melve's storeroom.

It's still possible to progress in the quest Home is Where the Hearth Is without the brothers' help, but you'll need to either kill the guards in the storeroom or purchase the swords themselves.
