Players can choose between Humans and Beastren as playable races in Dragon's Dogma 2. Read on to learn if race matters, if you can play as a cat person or an elf, and more information about the different races.

Does Race Matter?
Race Likely Will Not Matter
Your character's race will not likely have a significant impact on gameplay, unlike height and size which mattered in Dragon's Dogma 1. Race will probably only affect dialogue and NPC interaction.

Can You Play as a Cat Person?
Playable Race Known as Beastren
You can play as a cat person by selecting the Beastren race during character creation. The Beastren are one of the two playable races, the other being Humans.
Beastren have slider options to adjust exclusive features such as their fur, whiskers, and claws.
Pawns Can Also Be Cat Persons
Aside from the playable characters, Pawns can also be Beastren during character creation. Pawns are support characters that accompany the Arisen and can be shared with other players.
Can You Play as an Elf?

Elves are not one of the playable races in Dragon's Dogma 2. However, you can design your human character to have elven ears.
The table above shows sliders of elven ears which you can customize to your liking from the Type 3 preset.
Pawns Can Specialize in Elvish
Pawns can specialize in Elvish to interpret the language automatically when speaking with an elf. This could be useful in gathering key information about quests and enemies to progress through the game.

Who Are the Beastren?
The Beastren are a new playable race with cat-like features introduced in Dragon's Dogma 2. Just like humans, they have their own culture and way of life, and will play a major role in the story.
Who Are the Elves?
Elves are a non-playable race in Dragon's Dogma 2 who specialize in wielding Bows and navigating through forests and wooded terrain.
