This is a guide on how monster respawn time works in Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Read on to learn how long it takes for monsters to respawn and what to do when monsters have not respawned yet!
Basic enemies you encounter, such as Goblins and Saurians, take about 2 days to respawn after being killed on average. This small timer lets you farm their materials for early enhancements to your equipment naturally by just exploring.
Boss monsters take significantly more time to respawn compared to the common enemies you encounter. On average, it takes about seven days for boss encounters to respawn in their general area. It is recommended to rest in an inn or on a campfire to quickly pass the day!
Respawn Conditions | |
---|---|
Medusa | Medusa spawns are sometimes random as they respawn despite only having 3 or 5 days pass. This phenomenon is still under investigation and will be updated when the information is clear. |
Drake | Drakes, commonly known as Dragons, will respawn after seven days have passed. However, there is no guarantee that they will be in that area as they can fly off. |
Depending on the monster, their respawn times and conditions will differ. Some will respawn at the 7-day mark, and other monsters will take more than seven days and not even respawn by then.
Example: The center star is where the Griffin spawns, but it can be found in the general area of the circle!
Some specific boss monsters like the Griffin have set spawn points but will travel across the general area of it. If that boss monster is not in their specific pawn point after their respawn timer, search the general area to find them!
If a monster you are looking for does not respawn after its spawn timer, save the game, then do either of the two options:
Description | |
---|---|
Bench | For free, you can sit at any bench with a red cushion, then choose the Doze Off option to skip a considerable amount of time. However, you can not specify the time you will wake up. |
Inn | For a costly amount, especially in quick succession, you can rest at an inn and specify what time you can wake up! |
House | When you have a house, you can choose when you will wake up for free. The first house you can get is obtained through the A Place to Call Home quest! |
Since the respawn mechanic can be finicky, you can skip more days to see if a monster respawns after the 7-day mark. There are three options you can opt to skip time, which are done either through the bench, inn, or your own home!
