Fighter Vocation

Arisen
Pawns

Fighters excel with close-range combat so players should focus on getting ranged vocations like Sorcerer, Archer, and Mage as their pawns. Sorcerers and Archers would make sure that your party is dealing enough damage while the Mage will keep the party healed up and imbue them with beneficial effects!

Mage Vocation

Arisen
Pawns

Mages focus on supporting allies by providing healing and beneficial spell effects. Because of this, Arisens should focus on getting DPS and Tank vocations like Warriors, Fighters, and Sorcerers as their pawns.

The Arisen can focus on making sure their pawns survive the battle through healing while dishing out buffs on the side!

Archer Vocation

Arisen
Pawns

Similar to Sorcerers, Archers should focus on getting close range vocations like Warriors & Fighters with an additional purely supportive pawn like the Mage to keep the party healed up while providing them with special buffs.

Thief Vocation

Arisen
Pawns

The Thief is a tricky one as they deal huge damage but are often targeted by enemies because they are of melee range. Even though the Thief is a melee vocation, focus on getting additional close range vocations like Warriors & Fighters to take the aggro away from you which allows you to go in and out of combat. A Mage should also be added to the party for healing and providing buffs.

Warrior Vocation

Arisen
Pawns

Warriors mostly stay on the front lines and they will need to take the brunt of all the damage from enemies. Focus on getting an Archer pawn in to cover the Warrior's glaring weakness against flying enemies.

The Sorcerer aims to deal magic damage from the side and the Mage is there to keep your health topped up. Be sure to be aware whenever your Mage executes Anodyne and heal yourself whenever you can.

Sorcerer Vocation

Arisen
Pawns

Sorcerers will mostly do the big share of damage in their team from the sidelines, so having front-line pawns is a must. A Warrior and Fighter pawn mostly covers that. Then finally, plop in the required Mage pawn for healing and buffs and you're golden!

Mystic Spearhand

Arisen
Pawns

As a Mystic Spearhand, you'll be able to toughen out even the most difficult enemies due to the Mirour Vesture skill, which lets you block out and negate all forms of attacks.

To support you in battle, the Mage will be valuable as its healing capabilities still comes in handy at the latter stages of the game. For recruited pawns, you can still use them as meat shields at the Fighter Vocation.

Best Pawns to Hire

Always Check For Their Specialization

Choose a Pawn with the Forager Specialization

For almost your entire playthrough, you will be gathering materials across the expansive world of Dragon's Dogma 2. So, it is a good idea to always have a Forager Pawn in your party.

Forager Pawns will let you know if there are important gathering spots in the area and can even mark their locations in your mini-map for easier identification.

Get a Chirurgeon Pawn

A Chirurgeon Pawn should also be considered as these pawns have the initiative to use curatives on the Arisen and other allies when needed. Combine this with the Kindhearted inclination and you'll have a great pawn on your hands.

Get A Pawn With A Lot of Pawn Badges

Pawn Badges shows the overall progress and experience of the pawn in crossing between worlds. Pawns with a lot of badges will usually guide you to more quests and can help you take down tougher foes.

Make sure to get Pawns with a lot of Pawn Badges and get the best pawn in line with your available Rift Crystals.

Make Sure to Get a Quest Guide Pawn

Not all Pawns will guide you on quests so make sure that the Pawn is capable of guiding you through quests. Check the Priority Quest column if they are available.

Hire Official Pawns

In Dragon's Dogma 2, Capcom provided a list of official pawns that everyone can hire at any point in the game. This is especially useful in the early game as these pawns tend to be more powerful & experienced and can provide you with that additional oompf when starting.
