Best Starting Class

Starter Vocations Ranked

ThiefThief ★★★★★
Has the highest DPS and the only dodge mechanic out of all starting classes, but has the caveat of being frail.
FighterFighter ★★★★☆
Starts the game with a strong offensive skill through Blink Strike and access to a parry with a well-timed block. Falls off in the damage department towards the endgame but a good meat shield vocation nonetheless.
MageMage ★★★☆☆
Has a relatively slow start in terms of offense, but you have control with elemental boons and you start ramping up as soon as you reach Rank 3
ArcherArcher ★★★☆☆
High damage and weakness exploitation, but starts with no mobility and means to put distance between you and your opponent.

Thief is the Best Starting Class

Dragon

The Thief vocation is the vocation with the highest DPS and the only class that can dodge. While still challenging to play, it teaches you more advanced mechanics and excels at nimbly finishing fights with its high DPS and mobility.

This is the best class to begin with and invest on until the endgame, as dodges are extremely valuable in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Fighters Can Taunt Enemies and Defend

Dragon

The Fighter offers good offense and defense, making it great for those who are just starting out. The Fighter is equipped with a sword to deal damage to enemies up close and a shield to block or parry enemy attacks.

Although the Fighter vocation lacks magick attacks, your Pawn can easily make up for it by assigning it the Mage Vocation, providing you with support such as healing, weapon enchantments, and magic attacks.

Mage Vocation for Magick Support

Dragon

Alternatively, choosing the Mage Vocation is also great for providing magick offense for the party, ffering support with heals and weapon enchantments, and applying debilitations (status effects) unto enemies!

In the case of the Mage vocation, the Magick and Magick Defense stats increase more than other stats as the character levels up. Using the Mage vocation will greatly benefit both the Sorcerer and Magick Archer since these vocations use magick in their attacks.

Archers with Long-Range Support

Dragon

Archers can provide support for the frontlines and can hit airborne enemies easier compared to other vocations. However, effectively utilizing the archer requires precise aiming, especially when targeting larger monsters with weakpoints on certain body parts.
