How to Start Shadowed Prayers

Talk to Menella in Flamebearer Palace

Dragon

Go to Flamebearer Palace and talk to Menella. She'll be requesting your aid in identifying the assassin during Empress Nadinia's prayers. The quest starts after the conversation.

Shadowed Prayers Is Time Sensitive

This quest is time sensitive and it's recommended that you complete it as soon as you get the quest. Otherwise, leaving it for later will cause you to fail the quest.

When you reach the objective to apprehend the assassin, you'll only have a few minutes to identify and grab him. Menella will warn you when you're close to the time limit.

How to Complete Shadowed Prayers

  1. Sleep at an Inn Until Morning
  2. Catch the Assassin

Sleep at an Inn Until Morning

Dragon

Pass the time until morning and return to the inner part of the Flamebearer Palace, and Menella will initiate a conversation with you, and this automatically progresses the quest.

Sleeping at an inn prior to chatching the assassin will place a save, so you can reload from you last inn rest save if ever you got the wrong person and failed the quest.

Catch the Assassin

Dragon

Menella describes the assassin as someone with his hair tied back and a wounded right arm. The assassin is found in the upper right area of the stairs. Grab him before the timer runs out, as indicated by Menella's remarks that Nadinia's prayers are almost ending.

Note: Based on our experience, XP and Gold are granted even when failing to apprehend the assassin. We'll verify if this influences the rest of the playthrough and update accordingly, so check back soon!
