Gaoled Awakening Walkthrough

Gaoled Awakening is a main quest in Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Read our guide for a walkthrough on how to start and complete the Gaoled Awakening main quest!

How to Complete Gaoled Awakening

  1. Create your Character
  2. Follow Fiska the Overseer
  3. Carry a Boulder Back to Rook
  4. Investigate the Disturbance
  5. Fend Off the Beast
  6. Flee for Your Life

Create your Character

Dragon

You can choose from a selection of presets during character creation or import your Arisen from the Dragon's Dogma 2 Character Creator & Storage.

You'll also need to select your character's vocation from the character creator from the four starting vocations: Fighter, Mage, Thief, and Archer.

All four vocations are viable and you can always change your vocations later. For beginners, we recommend the Fighter for its well-rounded offense and defense, as well as Mage since it has access to the Anodyne healing spell.

Follow Fiska the Overseer

Dragon

Follow Fiska the Overseer out of the prison and into the deeper parts of the excavation site, and start working.

Carry a Boulder Back to Rook

Dragon

Rook instructs you to pick up a boulder on the deeper layers of the site and asks you to carry it back to him.

Investigate the Disturbance

Dragon

Investigate what the ruckus was all about after delivering Rook his boulder. You can follow the guards and prisoners who're running outside in case you've lost your way out.

Fend Off the Beast

Dragon

Help the people kill the Medusa attacking the excavation site with your newly acquired weapon during a cutscene. This part of the quest mostly serves as a combat tutorial.

Rook will periodically provide combat tips related to your vocation on how to deal the most damage to Medusa. It'll retreat once its health has been lowered enough.

Flee for Your Life

Dragon

After fending off the beast, follow Rook and flee the area. Jump off the cliff to trigger a cutscene, which will complete the quest.

Start a New Game

Dragon

Start a fresh save of Dragon's Dogma 2 to start this quest, as this marks the story's introduction as to how you became the Arisen.
