How to Complete The Caged Magistrate

  1. Go to Magistrate Waldhar's Location
  2. Find the Place with Plenty of Tomes' Location
  3. Return to Magistrate Waldhar
  4. Report to Captain Brant

Magistrate Waldhar Location

The Magistrate Waldhar is found within the Vernworth Castle Gaol Tower, which is located in the southern part of Vernworth, inside the premises of Vernworth Castle .

Magistrate Waldhar is the bald old man seated in the first cell to your right upon entering the lowest floor of the gaol. Use the Gaol Key given by Captain Brant to open the cell and talk to him.

Place With Plenty of Tomes Location

The Place With Plenty of Tomes is located at The Gracious Hand in the Slums of Vernworth. Head over there to begin the quest Heel of History, which is a requirement to uncover the Place With Plenty of Tomes.

Talk to Kendrick outside The Gracious Hand building to begin the quest. You'll need to select both his dialogue options Give food and Give a donation of coin (1,000 Gold) in order to start the quest. If you don't have food on hand, you can go inside The Gracious Hand and pick up some Dried Spud on the room to the right.

Inside The Gracious Hand
Note: Aimee will be roaming around the slums, so it might be a bit tricky to find her. In our experience, she shows up in The Gracious Hand after talking with Harvey and Rick.

For this quest, you have to talk to 3 children in The Gracious Hand. First talk to Harvey or Rick, two boys outside The Gracious Hand building. They'll mention something about a kid named Malcolm.

You just need to speak to both of them once, before a girl named Aimee appears inside The Gracious Hand building. Afterward, report back to Kendrick.

Heel of History Walkthrough

Uncovering the Place with Plenty of Tomes

Follow Kendrick as he walks over to a ruined tower and uncovers the rubble to reveal a path to The Gracious Hands Vaults. Once inside, you'll find that the direct path to the end of the dungeon is locked.

Follow the other path to the right until you reach the octagonal room, where you'll find Malcolm. Follow him next, and he will guide you to the Place with Plenty of Tomes.

Return to Magistrate Waldhar

Head back to the goal where Magistrate Waldhar is and speak to him to tell him about the location you've found. You then have to escort him out of the dungeon through the exit leading to the slums. You can carry the Magistrate by grabbing him to make things quicker.

Report to Captain Brant

Dragon
After the cutscene that triggers when you exit the dungeon, you can report back to Captain Brant at the Stardrop Inn at night to complete the quest.

How to Start The Caged Magistrate

Speak with Captain Brant

Head to the Stardrop Inn in Vernworth and then advance the time so that it's nighttime. Captain Brant will then appear inside the inn and he'll ask you to follow him out on the balcony.

Once at the balcony, speak with Captain Brant and choose the "Tell me of the magistrate dialogue" dialogue option.
