Complete The Ailing Arborheart
You'll immediately begin the quest after talking to Sara and gathering information about the Scalecinder during the Ailing Arborheart quest.

Out of the Forest Into the Forge starts at Brokkr's Smithy in Bakbattahl.
How to Complete Out of the Forest Into the Forge
- Return to Doireann
- Get a Rotten Apple and a Rotten Fish
- Go to Sara in Bakbattahl
- Gather as Much Scalecinder as You Can
Return to Doireann
Go back to the Sacred Arbor and report to Doireann about the arrangement to a nutriabh, an elven dish, for scalecinder.
Get a Rotten Apple and a Rotten Fish
Gather an apple and a fish, and let them rot by passing the time. The game will notify you that you've gathered the necessary ingredients once they become rotten.
Return to Doireann and submit the ingredients she asked for to start cooking up the nutriabh.
Apple Location
There are apples southeast of the Sacred Arbor which you can gather and let them rot in your inventory.
Fish Location
You can gather fishes near the shore in the Sacred Arbor. Be careful not to go off coast or else the Brine will get you!
Go to Sara in Bakbattahl
Accompany Doireann to visit Sara in Bakbattahl to deliver the dish she requested. Sara will then ask you to follow her into Stragglers' Cave, located just outside Bakbattahl.
Gather as Much Scalecinder as You Can
Sara will give the dish to Brokkr, and you'll only have a limited time to gather as much scalecinder as you can in the cave.
You can either talk to Sara at the cave's entrance or wait until the time runs out, at which point Sara will inform you that your time is up. Submit the Scalecinder to Doireann to finish the quest.
