You can start the Crossing in Shadow quest by returning to your house in Vernworth after completing A Candle in the Storm quest. Make sure to return at night to trigger a cutscene with Vera requesting for your assistance.
If you don't own the house in Vernworth yet, you'll need to purchase it during the quest A Place to Call Home for 20,000G.

Crossing in Shadow is started by going inside your house in Vernworth at night.
For this quest, simply follow Vera through the city and choose the right options during the two events along the way until you reach the rose chateau.
If you choose the wrong options and blow your cover, you will fail the quest and land in jail!
Along the way, as you escort Nadinia, you'll encounter a Beastren trying to buy some medicine for his wife.
Speak to Philbert behind the counter, give him 1000G to trigger a cutscene, and continue following Vera.

Eventually, a Beastren will ask for your help, saying he stole from a soldier and is now being pursued.
Select Refuse to aid him, and proceed to the Rose Chateau Bolderie, and conclude the side quest.
