How to Use Greatsword

Scales with Strength and Dexterity

The Greatsword scales primarily with Strength followed by Dexterity, making players who focus on Strength benefit from this weapon greatly. Therefore, it is recommended to invest points in your Strength attribute for more stat scaling bonus to physical attack.

Changing the weapon's affinity by using Whetblades will improve the default scaling of the weapon to better scale with your stats. Status effects such as Hemorrhage, Poison, and Frost can be added to the weapon to increase its damage output.

Good Physical Damage

The Greatsword is slow and heavy but its high damage output makes up for it. Its wide slashing attacks can easily stagger and hit multiple enemies. A charged strong attack will swing the Greatsword in a circular motion, hitting surrounding enemies, and can easily break an enemy’s poise.

Infusable with Ashes of War

This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War and is equipped with Stamp (Upward Cut) as its default weapon skill. When activated it places the user in a readied stance and can be followed up with a strong upward slash that can launch enemies upward.

Bloodhound Step works well with the Greatsword because it can give you good mobility to compensate for the weapon's heavyweight.
