Stat Scaling Explained | How to Receive Scaling Bonuses

Elden Ring Stat Scaling.png

Weapons in Elden Ring are directly affected by stats the player chooses to invest in and gain certain bonuses depending on that stat. Read on to learn how Stat Scaling works and how to get Scaling Bonuses!

How Does Stat Scaling Work?

Weapons Scale with your Stats

Stat Scaling.png
Every weapon in the game will have specific stats that it will scale with and its effectiveness is dependent on those specific stats. A weapon that primarily scales with strength will be more effective and deal more bonus damage the more you invest in that stat.

Another example is if a player has a much higher Intelligence stat than Strength, using a Colossal Sword is out of the picture and Staves would be a more ideal weapon to use since the amount of bonus Magic damage you can deal is dependent on the Intelligence stat.

Invest in the Right Stats

Elden Ring Stats.png
There are a total of 5 stats that you can level up that will affect your weapon's proficieny, these stats are Strength, Dexterity, Faith, Intelilligence, and Arcane. Making sure beforehand what build you want to do and which starting class to pick can greatly help you in choosing the right stats to level up.

Upgrading your weapons at Smithing Tables or Blacksmiths can also enhance its scaling, for example a base weapon with D Strength scaling can be upgraded to C after enhancement.

How to Upgrade Weapons

Customize your Weapon's Affinity

Weapon Affinity.png
Equipping Ashes of War and depending on the Whetblade you have can allow you to change your weapon's affinity to even further increase the scaling bonus you can receive.

For example the Iron Whetblade can give you the Heavy affinity to enhance your weapon's Strength scaling and decreasing the others, while the Keen affinity will enhance the Dexterity scaling.
