Clive Defeats Ultima and Destroys the Last Mothercrystal

FF16 - Clive Defeats Ultima and Destroys the Last Mothercrystal

Clive, Joshua, and Dion use their combined powers to attack Ultima at its fortress called Origin. Dion is killed while fending off Ultima and Joshua sacrifices himself to give Clive the powers to defeat and absorb Ultima.

Clive succeeds in killing Ultima in the final fight and uses the absorbed powers to resurrect Joshua. He then sacrifices himself to destroy the last Mothercrystal and to remove magic entirely from Valisthea.

Post-Credits Scene Shows a Distant Future

FF16 - Post-Credits Scene Shows a Distant Future

A cutscene after the credits roll serves as the epilogue of the story. It shows a distant future where a mother and two sons that resemble Clive and Joshua living in a world without magic.

It is revealed that the game's story is recounted in a fairy tale book called Final Fantasy that Joshua has written.

Final Fantasy 16 only has one ending, regardless of what you do or what you've been doing. Even if you missed doing some side quests, there's nothing that will affect how the game ends.

There is no secret ending that you can unlock in Final Fantasy 16. The epilogue scene that appears after the credits roll is not considered a secret ending as you do not need to fulfill certain conditions to unlock it.

FF16 - Final Fantasy Mode
Final Fantasy Mode is an unlockable difficulty mode that features new gameplay content. These include increased enemy strength, increased level cap to Level 100, new gear and items, and mode-exclusive content.

You can choose to play at this difficulty when you start a New Game Plus at the title screen.
