How to Beat Aurum Giant

Step-by-Step Guide

Parry and Dodge Basic Sword Attacks

The Aurum Giant will utilize its giant sword to execute a combination of vertical and horizontal slashes, 360 degree spin moves, and will occasionally lunge at you from a distance.

Each sword attack has a slow windup animation so you can easily attain a successful parry to slow down the time, allowing you to use all your abilities and combos uninterrupted to maximize your damage output.

You can also precision dodge then launch your counterattack at it. Take note that the Giant usually has a follow-up attack, so be sure to counterattack at the end of the combo.

Dodge Sideways When Flames Emerge From Its Shield

Flames can be unleashed from its shield towards your direction. When this happens, you can either dodge, or keep running sideways if ever it decides to consecutively spam this ability on you.

Keep Your Distance During Golden Section

FF16 - Keep Your Distance During Golden Section

The Giant can swing its sword at a much larger radius during Golden Section. Move away and keep your distance to avoid getting caught in this. You can tell when it's about to use this ability when it raises its sword sideways while emitting a blue flame on it.

If you have the Cold Snap ability equipped, this will come in handy as you can quickly slide away to safety.

Avoid Stepping on Blue Flames Afterwards

Once Golden Section concludes, several blue flames will spawn on the ground and will explode after a few seconds, so be sure to steer clear of it until their gone before fighting the Giant again.

Steer Clear of Blue Markers on the Ground

Aetherial Assault Cannon is an AoE ability in which the Aurum Giant will fire off projectiles in the air. Observe the ground for blue markers and avoid staying near them as these are the designated zones where the projectiles will land.
