Craft Weapons and Armor

You'll be able to forge weapons and armor by bringing materials to the blacksmith, Blackthorne in his forge, The Black Hammer.

Talk to Blackthorne and select the Forge dialogue option to bring up the Blacksmith menu. Under the Craft tab, select the desired equipment, make sure that you have enough materials, then hold the Craft button to forge the equipment.

Upgrade Weapons and Armor

You can also upgrade your equipment with the blacksmith under the Reinforce tab of the Blacksmith menu.

Under this tab, select the equipment you want to upgrade, make sure that you have enough materials, then hold the Reinforce buttton to upgrade the equipment.

How to Unlock the Blacksmith

Located in Cid's Hideaway

Blackthorne and the Black Hammer can be found in the game's central hub area, Cid's Hideaway, which is unlocked after progressing through the main quests and finishing the quest A Chance Encounter.

Check Notices for New Forging Recipes

When things change in the hideaway, you may receive a notice that Blackthorne has new forging recipes. In case you missed it, you can still spot a brown and gold icon on The Black Hammer which indicates that there's something new.

Unlock Dressed to the Fives Trophy After Crafting 5 Pieces of Gear

Bronze	Dressed to the Fives
	Craft or upgrade 5 pieces of gear. ・Blacksmith and Weapon Crafting Guide

The Dressed to the Fives trophy requires you to use the Blacksmith's services to forge or reinforce five pieces of weapons or armor in total.

Unlock Half Past Twilight Trophy After Crafting Gotterdammerung

Silver	Half Past Twilight
	Craft the legendary sword Gotterdammerung. ・How to Get Gotterdammerung

Forging the Gotterdammerung will award you with the Half Past Twilight trophy.
