How to Beat Behemoth

Step-by-Step Guide

Dodge Through the Shockwaves

FF16 - Comet shockwave Precision Dodge

The Behemoth's Comet attack will strike the area where Clive was when it was cast. This part is easy to avoid as you can just move away from the highlighted spot, but the comet will send a shockwave from its point of impact that you won't be able to avoid with a simple jump.

To dodge it, you can either use Deadly Embrace to launch yourself midair or simply dodge through the shockwave (by pressing R1).

In the latter parts of the boss battle, the Behemoth will also do slam attacks while three consecutive comets fall so keep an eye on these too.

Use Deadly Takedown to Get More Attacks In

Once the Behemoth gets partially staggered, switch to Garuda and use her Eikonic Feat Deadly Embrace to execute a Deadly Takedown.

This will make the boss take increased damage (as if it's actually staggered) for a few seconds, where you can use your strongest attacks or further decrease its Will gauge.

Run From the Maelstrom

The Maelstrom created by the Behemoth will slowly track your movement. If you were too close to the boss when this move started, run away close to the edge of the arena to avoid it. Otherwise, you can dash in to the Behemoth and attack.

Ground Will Still Burn After Meteor

Meteor is an attack that will shower comets to form a large ring around the arena. Comets will also track your movement, so you'll have less space to dodge if you're inside the ring.

The ground where the comets land will also be left burning, so wait for them to go out before resuming your attack.

Fight Ends After Extinction

As its last resort, the Behemoth will use Extinction to call down a large meteor similar to the Ecliptic Meteor. This can only end with either of you dying.

Quickly get out of its area of effect, which can be easily done using Cold Snap or using Phoenix Shift on the Behemoth to get closer to the edge of the circle.
