You can manually save and erase data in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) through the menu. Read on to find out more about how to save your data in FF16, delete saves, as well as the prompts for autosaves, and more!

How to Save Data in FF16

Open Menu and Save Under System Settings

# Step by Step Objectives
1 Open the menu by pressing the menu button on your PS5 controller (make sure you're not in a cutscene).

Press R2 until you get to the System Settings tab, which has the Save option. Press it to bring up the Save menu.

Your screen should show all your previous save files (if any). Press Create Save Data File if you want to create a new save file, or press on one of the save files to overwrite it. You'll have successfully saved the game.

Players can save their game by pressing the menu button to save their game from the settings menu when they're not in a cutscene. Do take note that each player has a limit of 50 manual saves only!

Modes that are Unable to Save Data

While being in cutscenes, players cannot manually save on a file or create a data save. Players also cannot save while in the middle of combat, and when playing arcade mode or stage replay.

Does FF16 Have Autosave?

Autosave Triggers After Cutscenes

FF16 - Save Animation
FF16 has an auto-save system, and it gets triggered after cutscenes. You'll see the saving animation at the top right corner of the screen.

Youll be able to load the auto-save file through the Save menu. Also, when you select Continue in the game's Main Menu screen, the game will load the latest auto-save file. The game will only register a total of 10 auto-saves close to your current progress.
