How to Unlock

Through the Maelstrom starts after taking off to Ironworks during the A Song of Hope quest and watching or skipping the cutscene in the Full Steam quest. You will be fighting waves of enemies on this quest, as well as duel Barnabas!

Quest Objectives

#	Through the Maelstrom Objectives
1a	Seach the Einherjar for Jill Search the ship, Enherjar, and look for Jill while Joshua keeps Barnabas busy. Defeat the enemies that come in your way to progress! Start by defeating three waves of enemies, including a Royal Tognvaldr, and head inside the ship. ▶ How to Beat Royal Tognvaldr
1b	Once inside, head upstairs and defeat more waves of enemies. A Royal Sveithvaldr will appear this time to stop you. Head down on the other side after that to get to Jill's location. ▶ How to Beat Royal Sveithvaldr
1c	Once you're back inside, go down one floor and enter the room to Jill's cell. It is being guarded by a few soldiers, and you have to eliminate them first before you can see Jill! You can loot the chest first to the left before heading down to get The Breath of Earth (Earthen Fury).
2	Defeat Barnabas You will be at the sea floor during this time after Barnabas split the sea into two during the cutscene. Fight him until he casts his Iron Flash move. You will lose the fight no matter how hard you fight, so try to just survive once he starts the Iron Flash. ▶ How to Beat Barnabas
3	Return to the hideaway You will end up at the Shadow Coast beach after fighting Barnabas. Return to the Hideway to rest and plan your next course of action!

How to Beat Royal Tognvaldr

You should be familiar fighting a Royal Tognvaldr by now, since you've encountered several in the story. Keep up with its movement and watch out for it skills to beat it!

Tips for Beating

• Evade or parry basic attacks
• Keep moving during Raiton attack
• Get behind him during Katon attack
• Defeat weaker enemies first

How to Beat Royal Sveithvaldr

The Royal Sveithvaldr should also be a familiar opponent to you as there are few times you have beaten it in the story. It's attacks are slow, making them easy to parry or dodge and counter!

Tips for Beating

• Dodge Crea y Cwm to avoid the combo attack
• Evade or parry basic axe swings
• Kill the weaker soldiers first

Through the Maelstrom Boss: How to Beat Barnabas

Boss Overview

You will taste a portion of Barnabas' power during this boss fight. He's fast and will attack from different angles throughout the fight. Do your best to evade them and hit him when you get the chance!

Tips for Beating

• Evade the vertical slash at the start
• Survive until the Iron Flash is casted
• Dodge or parry basic slash attacks
• Use Phoenix Shift once he uses Gungnir to avoid the attack and land a few hits
• Equip Timely Accessories to ease combat
