How to Unlock

You can start A Chance Encounter after the Flight of a Fledgling quest. You will be playing as Clive again, but there will be more skills and abilities you can unlock or upgrade this time.

1	Pursue the Retreating Army Follow the trail until you've caught up with the retreating army. Don't forget to pick up the potions along the way as they can help you later on this quest!
2	Defeat Shiva's Dominant Fight and defeat the retreating army, along with Shiva's Dominant. You can beat the soldiers first so you can focus on fighting Shiva's Dominant without getting hit from other directions! ▶ How to Beat Shiva's Dominant
2a	More enemies will spawn after beating Shiva's Dominant. Defeat them all to progress!
3	Beat Tiamat Tiamat will fight you for refusing to end Shiva's Dominant's life, as he considers it as a betrayal to the Holy Empire. Beat him in a 1-on-1 fight! ▶ How to Beat Tiamat
4	Follow Cid to the hideaway Follow Cid to the Hideway once done fighting, and that will be the end of the quest.

How to Beat Shiva's Dominant

Shiva's Dominant is an adept ice dominant despite her current status. Don't let your guard down fighting her until she's defeated or you might get damaged a lot!

Close the Distance

Shiva's Dominant mostly uses range attacks to deal damage. Try to close the distance by dodging or using Phoenix's Eikonic Feat, Phoenix Shift and hit her when you get the chance!

Attacks are indicated by Ice Effects

You will know that Shiva's Dominant will attack once the ice-looking effects surrounds the ground near her. Prepare to dodge once you see it so you can land a clean counter once the attack is made!

How to Beat Tiamat

Go for Precision Dodges or Parry

Tiamat is a lot faster than Shiva's Dominant and can attack you from a distance and close range. It's better to wait for a counter than force an opening through attacks and abilities!

How to Parry Attacks

Avoid Spamming Attacks

Avoid spamming attacks against Tiamat. He can dodge and parry an attack, leaving you open for a counter. You can wait for him to attack before you do and lessen the risk of getting damaged in the fight!

Do Ranged Attacks

If it's hard to grasp the timing of Tiamat's attack, it might be better to focus on ranged attacks and running for a while. It can be time-consuming, but it's a good way to know what you're opponents can do in general!
