Typhon Summon Guide and How to Unlock

How to Beat Typhon (First Form)

Step-by-Step Guide

Use Wildfire to Dodge Wide-Scale Attacks

When Typhon uses wide-scale attacks such as the Unending Clamor, hold the Dodge Button (Circle) then move the L Stick to the direction you want to go to dash for an extended amount of time to avoid the huge purple aura on the ground.

Dodges Can Be Utilized to Close the Gap

FF16 - Dash Towards Typhon

Typhon will frequently teleport to various locations around the arena and you can keep up with this by holding dodge then dashing towards him, followed by your basic attacks when you get the chance to catch him off guard.

Evade Then Use Basic Attacks

As Ifrit, you'll be a lot stronger than Clive's human form, so wearing down Typhon during his first form should be an easy task for you.

Follow the boss's attack motion by observing his arms, once he raises his arms up in the air you'll know he's about to strike you down; dodge at the last minute then dash forward to get close and spam your attacks.

How to Beat Typhon (Second Form)

Step-by-Step Guide

Avoid His AoE Abilities

FF16 - Avoid AoE Abilities

Typhon's second form sees an enhanced version of his abilities, alongside new ones that require full attention to avoid as he'll be mostly channeling AoE attacks that are fatal if you're not careful.

Go Through the Open Gap During Demon Wall

Once you see gigantic walls of purple energy appear before you, run through the narrow openings to avoid getting damaged. Use the prolonged dodged if you feel that you won't be able to reach the succeeding gaps in time.

Jump When He Emits Circular Beams on the Ground

FF16 - Jump to Avoid AoE Attacks

Purple beams will sometimes emit on the ground from where he's standing while attacking you, simply press the Jump Button to evade them.

Steer Clear of the Purple Aura of Catacecaumene

Typhon will leap away from you then he'll channel out the Catacecaumene ability in which several purple energy auras will beam out from the floor. Observe the ground for any circular energy auras forming up then avoid by moving away from them.

Take note that he'll also use Unending Clamor during this so ready up your dodge button if you need to.

Utilize Ranged Attacks

FF16 - Use Fireballs Against Typhon

You can cast out fireballs at him by pressing the Triangle button if you can't find the opportunity to get up close to him, especially when he's shooting out one of his laser beam attacks at you.

Get Behind Him During Unending Clamor

During the second phase, Unending Clamor will now spawn 3 purple radiuses on the ground so dodging either side won't be a simple chore anymore.

It'll take some time to fully charge up this ability and you can take advantage of this by dashing forward through the middle, then get behind him and start damaging from behind while he's busy channeling the ability.

End the Fight Through Quick Time Events

FF16 - Typhon Cinematic Clash

The last few bits of the fight will commence a series of Quick Time Events involving a lot of Cinematic Clashes between you and Typhon. Execute the real-time events by pressing the appropriate button on time as you watch the breathtaking fight scenes to end the battle.
