The Hand of Iapetus Stage Guides

Stage 1

Trial Stage Tips

Use Blind Justice at soon as the enemies spawn

Once the enemies spawn, quickly press the circle button to activate Blind Justice. This will affix ball lightning to all of them which can increase your damage output to the mob.

If you want more time, affix these lightning balls to one target to get the Justice Discharged bonus, which adds 8 seconds to the trial.

Use Pile Drive at the center of a mob

Aside from dealing AoE damage to enemies, using Pile Drive at the center of a mob will grant you the Collateral Drive bonus, which adds 12 seconds to the trial. We suggest always going for this for the extra time and damage!

Use Thunderstorm on fallen or staggered enemies

Deal tons of damage by using Thunderstorm on fallen or staggered enemies! This will defeat the Formidable Foes quicker and will also grant you the Thunderfall bonus, which will add 12 seconds to the trial.

Stage 2

Trial Stage Tips

Use Pile Drive immediately to thin out the mob

Even the odds by using Pile Drive at the center of a mob. This will take care of any distractions and will usually leave you on a 1v1 situation with a Formidable Foe. Use punish on the fallen foes if any survived.

Use Lightning Rod against Formidable Foes

Set up Lightning Rod when battling Formidable Foes to make use of the ability's effects. Having them attack the Lightning Rod three times will also grant the Striking Thrice bonus, which will add 12 seconds to the trial.

Stage 3

Trial Stage Tips

Use Judgment Bolt to thin out the mob

Use Judgment Bolt right away to thin out the mob that spawns. This will allow you to focus on the Formidable Foe.

Set up Lightning Rod near Formidable Foes

Always set up Lightning Rod by a Formidable Foe to take advantage of the AoE damage it has, staggering them quicker while also dealing damage on other enemies.

Final Stage: Thunderbound Griffin

Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) - Final Stage Trial of Thunder Thunderbound Griffin

Trial Stage Tips

No time bonuses can be obtained

You won't be able to get time bonuses from techniques in the final stage and will have to finish it with all the time you accumulated from the first three stages. Use your abilities efficiently and try to have both of them up once the Thunderbound Griffin is staggered.

Same attack patterns as Dozmare Griffin

Thunderbound Griffin will have the exact same attack patterns as the Notorious Mark Dozmare.

Use Judgment Bolt whenever you can to maximize its cooldown during the fight. To make the battle easier, make sure you have the Ring of Timely Evasion equipped to easily dodge its attacks. Since this is the last stage, use Limit Break whenever you can to deal damage as quickly as possible before the timer runs out.

The Hand of Iapetus General Tips

Trial By Thunder Tips

Make use of Precision Dodges to gain an extra second

Doing Precision Dodges may only grant an extra second, but whenever mobs of enemies continuously attack, these seconds add up, so whenever you can, make use of this extra time!

Time Blind Justice properly

After executing Blind Justice, there is a short animation before you can move again. Be careful in using this ability and always wait for the right timing.
