The primary use of the Arete Stone is the Training Mode. Despite being called a Training Mode, it's more of a testing ground where you can test out your combos and learn about your total damage output. This makes it a great place to learn which combos are the most efficient as well as the best moves to use in general per each Eikon form!

Target Options change the unit that is present in your current Hall of Virtue. Changing enemy size can also affect the results of your combo and changing enemy attack type can be a good way to practice parrying or evading attacks. Explore your options in the Hall of Virtue!
Arcade Mode is another Arete Stone feature where you replay a certain part of a stage, and you are given scores based on your performance in battle. Use combos and battle techniques to gain high scores. Compete with other players on the leaderboard and aim to get the highest score in each stage!
This feature unlocks after beating Midnight Raven during the Fanning Embers main quest.
Through New Game Plus and Final Fantasy Mode, the game introduces Ultimaniac Mode as the highest difficulty setting for challenges in the Arete Stone.
It has the same functionality as the base Arcade Mode—giving players enemies to test their combat skills on and having them compete against each other by raking up points through overall performance.
Ultimaniac Mode has its own leaderboard and scores separate from Arcade Mode.
Arcade Mode Features Explained
Stage Replay allows replaying parts of the story to re-experience them. This is especially helpful for getting missed treasure chests and items. You can rewatch cutscenes and beat the enemies present in the stage again to gain EXP, AP, and gil.
This mode unlocks with Arcade Mode once you defeat Midnight Raven.
Stage Replay Features Explained
Chronolith Trials are timed challenges found across Valisthea and are composed of waves of enemies with the final one being a boss. Clive is limited to using one Eikon and its abilities. Beating Chronolith Trials allow you to replay them in the Arete Stone with increased difficulty and no new rewards.
Playing on Final Fantasy Mode gives access to the Final Chronolith Trials, which scales with the mode's difficulty and comes with a leaderboard.
