Essential Boss Tips

Boss Tips & Strategies

Master Precision Dodging

FF16 - Master Precision Dodging

Mastering the art of Precision Dodging by perfecting the timing of your evades allows you to launch a counterattack. This is proven to be useful as you'll be dodging for majority of your boss battles.

You can perform a precision attack by pressing the Attack (Square) button after achieving a well executed dodge.

How to Use Precision Dodge Effectively

Parrying Allows for Uninterrupted Attacks

Ff16 - Parrying Allows for Uninterrupted Attacks

Parrying an attack slows down the time, giving you a few precious seconds to unleash your combos and abilities without being interrupted by the boss.

It can be difficult to execute at first, but after familiarizing yourself with a boss's movement patterns, eventually you'll get the timing and ward off their attacks.

How to Parry Attacks

Unlock Swift Recovery Early On

FF16 - Unlock Swift Recovery Early On

One of the most useful abilities to learn early on is Swift Recovery as you can quickly regain your footing once you get knocked back. This can act as a backup plan should you fail to evade from a boss's deadly attack.

Best Abilities to Learn and Master

Take Advantage of Takedowns

FF16 - Take Advantage of Takedowns

After partially staggering a boss by reducing its Will Gauge down to 50%, you'll be able to deal more damage to it as its extremely vulnerable to your attacks. You'll notice that it's in this state when the damage output turns yellow.

You can even prolong this by using Deadly Embrace to topple the enemy even further.

How to Stagger Enemies

Utilize Eikonic Feats

FF16 - Titanic Block

Maximize the use of Eikonic Feats since these are abilities that Clive can use without cooldowns against formidable foes.

You can close the distance with a boss by dashing with Phoenix Shift, leap upwards in the air with Deadly Embrace (which can also be used to evade attacks), or save yourself from harm by blocking their attacks with Titan—an ability that summons an arm to shield yourself from harm!

Bosses and Formidable Foes Explained

Stronger and Harder to Beat Enemies

FF16 - Formidable Foes are Boss Enemies

Bosses (Formidable Foes) are stronger, tougher, and larger than common enemies and are considered the bosses of the game. They boast a massive amount of Health Points (HP) and are more difficult to deal with as they are equipped with an entirely different moveset—often devastating and can deal lethal blows if you're not careful!

When in combat with them, it's highly advisable to break their wills to stagger them which will render them unable to move and are vulnerable to your attacks.
