How to Use Item Shortcuts

Item shortcuts lets you use an item instantly with a press of a button in Final Fantasy 16 (FF16). Read on to learn how to assign item shortcuts and how to use them.

How to Assign Item Shortcuts

Assign the Items to a Button on the D-Pad

Open up the Menu Screen and go to the Items tab. Select a consumable item and press and press Square, then assign it to either the Up, Right, and Down D-Pad buttons and press the X button.

Left D-Pad Switches Between Item Shortcuts and Torgal Commands

Press the Left D-Pad button to switch between item shortcuts and Torgal commands. Always keep an eye on which commands are active as you might use up all of your items, mistakenly thinking you were commanding Torgal.

How to Use Item Shortcuts

Press the Up, Right, and Down D-Pad to Use Assigned Item

FF16 - Item Shortcuts

Pressing the Up, Right, and Down D-Pad buttons will instantly use the item assigned to it. It is recommended to assign potions, high potions, and items you frequently use.

List of All Consumable Items

Potions are Automatically Consumed upon Exceeding the Carry Limit

Potions and high potions that you pick up in the overworld are automatically consumed when you already have a maximum amount of them in your inventory.

Use Directly in the Menu Screen

Select a consumable item you want to use and Hold the X button to consume it. You can do this if an item you want to use isn't assigned to a D-Pad button, or if you want to pause what's happening in the game to heal up or strengthen your attacks and defenses.
