Final Fantasy 16 (FF16)

Is FF16 Connected to FF15?

Add to Watchlist

FF16 - Is FF16 Connected to FF15
Final Fantasy XVI (FF16) is not connected to Final Fantasy XV (FF15) and or any other mainline Final Fantasy title. Read on to find out how FF16 is connected to its predecessors, be it from slight nods, references, and more!

Is FF16 Connected to FF15?

No, FF16 is Set in a Different World from FF15

From the released Final Fantasy 16 trailers, we have already been shown the map of the world of Valisthea. Not only is the name of the world different to FF15's world, Eos; the map of the two worlds are extremely different. Furthermore, FF16 is distinctly set in a medieval setting while FF15 had a futuristic and sci-fi setting.

The main sources of conflict in FF16, the Eikons and the Dominants, were also absent in FF15, adding proof that the two worlds can't be the same one.

Each Numbered Final Fantasy has its Own Universe

FF16 - Rosaria
Final Fantasy 16 not being connected to Final Fantasy 15 or any of its other predecessors follows the pattern of the numbered Final Fantasy games not being set in the same universe (with a couple of exceptions).

Recurring Elements Across Titles

In some of the earlier games, there was a concept of the Interdimensional Void that connected these universes, but generally, the worlds and stories of these games are distinctly separate from one another, with only a few elements such as magic crystals and Chocobos carrying over across universes.
