FF16's Take on Summons

FF16 - Ramuh summoned

Eikons are the typical summons seen throughout all of the Final Fantasy series games. In FF16, Eikons can be controlled by humans called Dominants that serves as hosts to Eikons.

Players Can Control Eikons and Use its Abilities

FF16 - Eikon Magic

In normal combat, players can use an Eikon's abilities to cast spells. Players can switch Eikons using the L2 Button.

Unlike previous games where the summons were used as a finishing attack, Dominants can take the form of their Eikon to be used in battle, though these battles are usually in the form of epic boss fights in the game.

Unique Battles

FF16 - Eikon battle

The highlight of Final Fantasy 16 (FF16) will be Eikon-versus-Eikon battles. Based on the gameplay footage shown, these will be set-piece battles with unique gameplay mechanics depending on the Eikons involved.

These battles can range from a basic fight like in Ifrit versus Titan to an on rails shooter shown in Phoenix versus Bahamut.
