Arcade Mode and Stage Replay are features of the Arete Stone in Final Fantasy 16 (FF16). Read on to learn the features of arcade mode, arcade mode rewards, stage replay features, updates to the leaderboard, and how to unlock them!
List of Contents
Based on an announcement by Square Enix on December 1st, 2023, Final Fantasy 16 will release an update that adjusts the scoring calculations in Arcade Mode.
With these changes, the previous leaderboard records will be swept clean to solely account for the new scoring system of the Arcade Mode.
Arcade Mode is a feature available in the Arete Stone in Cid's Hideaway. Arcade Mode allows you to replay a level with pre-determined level, consumable items, and gear. Eikonic Abilities can be customized to your liking. Equipment restrictions do not apply to accessories.
Your rating is determined by the score you receive from doing battle techniques in Arcade Mode. The higher the score, the higher the rank that you'll get. Players will be able to compete with other players nationwide in getting the highest score in each stage!
Online Features and Multiplayer Options
Color Rating | ★ | ★★ | ★★★ |
---|---|---|---|
White | 100 | 300 | 500 |
Blue | 500 | 700 | 900 |
Cyan | 2.000 | 4.000 | 6.000 |
Green | 20,000 | 25,000 | 30,000 |
Rainbow | 40,000 | 50,000 | 60,000 |
Performing techniques successfully in battle is shown on the right part of the screen. These techniques are colors and have stars beside them, which corresponds to what score you'll get for that specific technique.
The Final Fantasy difficulty and Ultimaniac Mode settings are available when the player has completed the game at least once. Once the player clears all of the main story quests, they can start New Game Plus in Final Fantasy Mode to unlock these features.
How to Unlock Final Fantasy Mode
In Arcade Mode, there are currently no rewards available for the challenges. Instead, there is an online leaderboard system where players can showcase their scores for completing a stage! There are separate leaderboard scorings for each difficulty setting.
Stage Replay allows you to visit any of your previously cleared stages and replay them from the very beginning. This is to allow players to revisit cutscenes, collect missed items, earn EXP and Ability Points, and retry missed achievements. Once you're inside a stage, you can press the Touchpad to bring up a menu to either Restart from the Beginning, or Quit Stage Replay.
Enemies here give fewer EXPs and drops loot differently, possibly resulting in fewer drops than usual. You'll be able to retain your currently equipped gear and equipment, as well as abilities and Eikons.
Completing the Fanning Embers quest in Greatwood will unlock both the Arcade Mode and Stage Replay in the Arete Stone at Cid's Hideaway.
