Description: Bade by his father, the archduke, to address reports of the ever-spreading Blight having driven a horde of goblins into Rosarian territory, Clive journeys to the swamps of Stillwind accompanied by a pair of loyal Shields of the duchy. |
Lost in a Fog automatically starts after travelling to Stillwind at the end of the previous quest Sunrise, Sunset. You will face several goblins on this quest together with the other Shields of Rosaria.
# | Lost in a Fog Objectives |
---|---|
1 |
Explore Stillwind Follow the path until you reach an open area with 2 Gil on the side. The way forward is blocked by a log with glowing butterflies floating (these critters will actually act as your guide in this swamp). Crawl under it to the next area for your first real combat! |
1a |
After defeating the three Goblins, check the right side for an opening that leads to another open area. Remember that you can use your Animal Instinct (hold L3) to know where to go next! |
1b |
On the right side is a ruined shack. Squeeze through the gap on its wall to reach the Strength Tonic inside. Keep following the path and you'll find The Drowned Village with more Goblins to fight. |
2 |
Search the abandoned village Enter the house on your left and grab the Potion at the back. Go back outside and kick the board to your left to clear the path. |
2a |
Grab the Potion on the cart in the middle and the Strength Tonic on the upper floor of the house on the left side. Across this area, past the cart, is a ladder that will lead you to another Goblin fight. |
2b |
Clear the Goblins and, if you need healing, check inside the house at the corner for another Potion. |
2c |
Head back out and turn right. Approach the wooden boards to make a prompt appear that will drop the bridge leading further into the village. You'll find another Potion on the ground past the bridge. |
2d |
Cross another bridge to enter a new area with, that's right, more Goblins to fight! After defeating the ambushing group, the leader will summon a Gigas, your first Formidable Foe. The Gigas will drop Hard Leather Armlets that you can equip afterwards through the Gear & Eikons tab to increase your Defense stat. ▶ How to beat Gigas |
3 |
Pursue the goblin leader Pass through the house where the leader was on, grabbing the High Potion and Potion inside, and go after the leader. This will be a linear path, so keep going until you reach another cutscene. |
4 | Slay the Morbol Morbol is your very first boss fight! This enemy won't be as easy as the Gigas, but you should be fine after you memorize its attack patterns. This is also the first time that you will be prompted for Cinematic Strikes and Cinematic Evasions (also known as Quick Time Events) so stay alert! ▶ How to beat Morbol |
5 |
Make for Phoenix Gate Travel to Phoenix Gate through the world map to complete the quest. |

This is the perfect time to master Precision Dodge which occurs by pressing the dodge button (R1) just before an attack hits. A Precision Dodge allows you to counter with a Precision Attack by pressing the attack button where you can continue your combo.
The Gigas' attacks are slow and easily telegraphed, so think of it as a training battle where you can practice simple combos more without the target dying in a few hits.

|
Stay on the sides or behind when attacking the Morbol as it can cast Bad Breath while you're in the middle of a combo. It's not as dangerous as some Final Fantasy players remember (at least maybe for now), but being put to sleep for a few seconds can be annoying if it gets you a lot.
After your first stagger on the Morbol, it will dive into the waters and reappear to inhale you from across the swamp. Just go along with the animation and wait for a super cool Quick Time Event.
These prompts usually happen when fighting bosses. When the screen flashes blue, press the attack button before the timer ends for a Cinematic Strike, or press the dodge button when the screen flashes red for a Cinematic Evasion.
Successfully following these unique animations executes a Takedown on the boss, which instantly depletes their Will gauge and put them in a staggered status.
Bringing down the Morbol's health to around 50% allows it to add Wild Rage into the attack rotation. Melee attacking the Morbol while it's rampaging will send you flying, regardless of the side you're coming from.
Just focus on getting out of its path and casting Fire to slowly whittle its health and Will gauge until it becomes vulnerable again.
