List of Contents
Carries Over | Does Not Carry Over |
---|---|
✔︎ Gear and Equipment ✔︎ Unlocked Abilities ✔︎ Level and EXP ✔︎ Gil ✔︎ Ability Points ✔︎ Crafting Materials ✔︎ Thousand Tomes Progress ✔︎ Medal of Valor |
✖︎ Quest Progress ✖︎ Side Quest Rewards ✖︎ Map Progress ✖︎ Items ✖︎ Torgal's abilities ✖︎ Notorious Marks |
New Game Plus (NG+) carries over possessions, unlocked abilities, and Clive's level from the cleared save file. Note that all features that can be carried over are transferable when starting a New Game Plus save file in Final Fantasy Mode difficulty.
The only exclusions to New Game Plus are items and locations tied to story progression. This means you can start out with all Eikon abilities, but you can't just travel anywhere you please. In addition, side quest rewards such as Chocobos and recipes must be unlocked again when playing New Game Plus.
Final Fantasy Mode Changes |
---|
|
The biggest change in New Game Plus (NG+) is the addition of Final Fantasy Mode, a more difficult version of the main story. If you cleared the story on Action Focused and still felt like you wanted more, this challenge adds both replayability and even some new content!
Enemies are far more dangerous in Final Fantasy Mode as they have different formations and may appear in different places. You won't be able to switch to either Story or Action Focused modes either, making it more challenging.
The Final Fantasy Mode of New Game Plus ups the difficulty of Arcade Mode and Chronolith Trials with Ultimaniac Mode and the Final Chronolith Trials, respectively.
Arete Stone Guide: All Available Features
Some equipment can only be made in New Game Plus, including the Ultima Weapon, which is the most powerful weapon in the game.
List of All Gear and Equipment
Like every other game with this feature, New Game Plus in FF16 unlocks after beating the game's main story. Players will need to use the cleared save file to start a New Game Plus playthrough, where they can choose to start in the same difficulty as before or take on the challenges of Final Fantasy Mode.
All Main Quests and Story Walkthrough
Unlocking New Game Plus can be done in any of the two difficulty settings.
If you're aiming to start New Game Plus and Final Fantasy Mode as soon as possible, we recommend doing your first playthrough on Story Focused mode. Otherwise, it's best to master the mechanics with Action Focused mode first.
Should You Choose Story Focused or Action Focused Mode?
