Holding the L Stick forward for about 5 seconds will make Clive sprint. If you stop sprinting, you'll go back to your usual running speed until you hold the L Stick forward again.
You cannot sprint in cities and dungeons. You'll also stop sprinting upon encountering an enemy.
Riding a Chocobo will surely make you traverse faster in the open field. Note that you can't ride Chocobos in cities and dungeons too!
