Ruin locations are random in each expedition run, so keep an eye out for the ruin icon in order to find one.

Ruins with an element icon indicate the element type of items and weapons you can obtain from them. These ruins feature fixed enemies and bosses associated with their element. For instance, ruins with the frost element will cause you to encounter Albinauric Archers mounting their wolves.

What to Do in Ruins?

Defeat Bosses for Dormant Power

Ruin Bosses

Visit ruins and defeat the enemies and bosses in the area to reveal the Dormant Power orb and get equipment and buffs to strengthen your character.

Treasure Chests in the Basement

Treasure Chests are located in basements of the ruins, where they contain items and weapons, with some following the element associated with the ruin. For instance, the Frost Ruins drop Freezing Grease and Freezing Pots to deal frost damage, and also drop Thawfrost Boluses to reduce frost buildup.

There are three basements per ruin, including the hidden basement, so make sure to find all basements to maximize loot.

Find the Hidden Basement

Hidden basements can be revealed by hitting the ground to break the illusion and uncover the stairway leading to the treasure chests. These chests may occasionally drop talismans. Talismans are powerful items and are a bit hard to obtain, so make sure to find the hidden basement.
