Using Items is essential for surviving expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign. Read on to learn more about how to use items and how to pick them up here!

How to Use Items

Press the Up Directional Button

PS4/PS5
Xbox
Use Item PS5 - Dpad Up
Switch Item PS5 - Dpad Down
Use Item XBOX - DPAD Up
Switch Item XBOX - DPAD Down

All consumable items can be used by pressing the Up directional button on your controller. Just make sure to select the item on your Item Shortcuts to effectively use your chosen item.

Additionally, you can also switch between multiple items by pressing the Down directional button on your controller.

You can instantly use an item without picking it up by holding the Interact button and pressing the Up directional key. This makes using items much easier especially when your item slots are full.

On the other hand, Sacred Flasks have their own slot and can be used by pressing the Square button on controller. This is commonly used for healing yourself so make sure you use this whenever you can.

You can pick up items by pressing the Triangle button on your controller. As long as your item slots are not full, you can immediately pick up the item with ease.

Swap Out Items with Ground Loot

Once all your item slots are full, picking up an item will prompt you to swap out any of the items you currently have with you. Try to swap out items depending on the needs of your current run to help you survive and complete an expedition.
