Elden Ring Nightreign - The Mountaintop Guide Top Banner

This is a guide to the Mountaintop in Elden Ring Nightreign. Read on to find out how to unlock the Mountaintop, clear it, and obtain its rewards!

How to Unlock the Mountaintop

Unlocks After Defeating Three Different Nightlords

Defeating three different Nightlords unlocks the second Shifting Earth event which is the Mountaintop.

Shifting Earth events have a chance of triggering after the end of every expedition, whether you defeat a Nightlord or a regular third day boss.

There are four Shifting Earth events in total: The Crater, The Mountaintop, The Rotted Woods, and finally, Noklateo, the Shrouded City.

Embark on Expeditions With the Mountaintop Shifting Event

Mountaintop Map

If you embark on an expedition when the Mountaintop has appeared, the north side of the map will change. You can start the mission on the first day if you plan on avoiding the bosses. It is advised to enter the Mountaintop on the second day after leveling your character if you intend to battle the bosses there.

Mountaintop Rewards

Nearby frostbite boosts attack.

Once you reach the summit, you can acquire the Favor of the Mountaintop. This buff halves the frostbite damage you take, halves the speed of your frostbite gauge, and boosts your attack when frostbite is triggered near you.

Mountaintop Progression Guide

Climb the Mountain and Ascend

West Path East Path

There are two suggested paths when climbing the mountain to reach the summit. Use Spiritstreams marked at positions ① and ② on the images above to climb the mountain in one go.

We recommend equipping Improved Frost Resistance Relics as well to minimize damage taken.

Cross Giant Chain Bridges

Giant Chain Bridge

Use the Spiritstreams to reach the top of the mountain and then cross the giant chain bridges to continue. If you come from the west path, you'll need to cross two chain bridges, and if you come from the east path, you'll need to cross one chain bridge to reach the summit.

Interact With the Crystal at the Summit

Mountaintop Crystal

Once you reach the top of the mountain, you'll find a large blue crystal. Interact with this crystal to acquire the Favor of the Mountaintop Dormant Power.

You're now free to head back down to the main area of Limveld. Alternatively, you may continue to roam and fight the optional bosses of the Mountaintop.

Optional Mountaintop Bosses

Flying Dragon

Flying Dragon Overworld and Map

The Flying Dragon appears in the lower part of the center of the snowy mountain. Its large body makes it easy to spot even from a distance, and it will be fighting a Snowfield Troll when you first see it.

Snowfield Trolls

Snowfield Trolls Overworld and Map

There are a pair of Snowfield Trolls that appear on the east side of the snowy mountains. Since it's difficult to battle them all at once, focus on taking them out one at a time.

How to Beat Snowfield Trolls

Mountaintop Ice Dragon

Mountaintop Ice Dragon

The Mountaintop Ice Dragon is an incredibly dangerous field boss in this area. It is completely optional - we highly suggest simply running away if you aren't prepared.

We recommend obtaining the Favor of the Mountaintop Dormant Power first to reduce damage taken. Additionally, the Improved Frost Resistance Dormant Power and the Attack Boost [Dragons] Dormant Power are also very helpful in defeating this boss.
