Locking On is an essential mechanic in Elden Ring Nightreign that allows you to focus your camera view on a target. Read on to learn how to Lock On and the benefits and drawbacks of this feature here!
List of Contents

Locking On in Elden Ring Nightreign is as simple as pressing its designated bind on your gamepad or the bound key on your keyboard.
This lets you lock on to the nearest target and have your camera follow them through their movements. You can then shift between targets by flicking your right thumbstick, and this will also happen if your current target dies.
If you're using a keyboard and mouse and playing on PC, you can lock on to targets by pressing the mouse button 3 which is the scroll button on your mouse.

Locking On to a target is essential for combat as it lets you keep your view onto them, allowing you to focus on their movesets and attacks without needing to manually readjust your camera.
This lock-on feature is shown via a white dot centered on the opponent. It also has the added benefit of following your opponent through any attacks that displace either you or them.
If there is more than one opponent on the battlefield, locking on may potentially prevent you from seeing other enemies and having them sneak up on you.
This can be countered by unlocking your camera and observing your surroundings before locking on again, or by keeping your surroundings in mind while in combat.

How do you lock on to only downed allies? On KB+mouse, if you have a boss and a downed ally next to it, if I lock on (Mouse 3) then it always goes to the boss. I have to move the camera to only see the downed ally to lock onto them. So weird.
