Matchmaking in Elden Ring Nightreign has several cases that need to match between players in order to play multiplayer. Read on to find out how to troubleshoot in case you have long matchmaking times or are not matchmaking at all.

Failing to Join the Party
Elden Ring Nightrein has several cases that need to match between players in a party in order to play multiplayer. Not having matching settings will result in failing to join the party.
Long Queue Times or Not Matchmaking At All
If not playing with a party, there are some issues that can lead to long queue times or not matchmaking at all. Matchmaking taking forever to load may be the result of not having the correct settings active. Double-check your settings in order to play multiplayer.

Check Your Connection
At the lower right corner of the main menu, you can see your online status as well as the current version of Elden Ring Nightreign installed on your system.
If the word Online does not appear, you will need to select Log In from the options at the main menu to connect into the game.
Check Your Matchmaking Settings
Ensure that all players in a party have selected Multiplayer as the Expedition type and are using similar passwords. Double-check for any typos as well.
Enable Cross-Region Play
If players in a party are from different regions, check that you have the correct region settings. Matchmaking with different regions is disabled by default.
Check Your NAT Type (PlayStation Only)
Elden Ring has confirmed on X.com that NAT type 3 may affect matchmaking on PSN. On PlayStation, NAT (Network Address Translation) types determine how your console connects to the internet and may affect your online gaming experience.
To fix this issue, switch to NAT type 2 in order to connect to a wider range of players. NAT type 2 is the default setting for PlayStation consoles.
How to Check Your NAT Type

1. Go to Home.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Go to Network.
4. Go to Connection Status
5. Go to Check Connection Status.
6. Switch to Moderate NAT (NAT 2).

Select the Same Nightlord or Expedition
All players in a party must select the same Nightlord or Expedition in order to play together. Ensure each player has selected the same target before attempting matchmaking.
Nightlord Bosses Ranked by Difficulty
Ensure Similar Shifting Earth Conditions
All players in a party must also have the same Shifting Earth conditions active on the map. If multiple players have different Shifting Earth conditions, those that differ must use the Bed in the Waiting Room at the Roundtable Hold.
Only One Player Can Have an Active Remembrance
Elden Ring has posted an article about Matchmaking and Remembrance missions. At most, only one player can have a Remembrance objective active. Elden Ring Nightreign will not allow players to run their Remembrances at the same time.
To resolve this, if multiple players have a Remembrance objective active, they should postpone the objective from the Journal until only one player has a Remembrance objective active.
The player progressing through their Remembrance mission should start the matchmaking process first.

Play on Similar Platforms
Ensure that all players are playing on similar platforms. Elden Ring Nightreign does not support crossplay between different platforms.
Elden Ring Nightreign does support Cross-Generational Play between the same console brand. This means that PS4 and PS5 players can party up, while Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players can play together as well.
Wait Out The Leave Penalty
If you've recently quit in the middle of runs, it's possible leave penalties are getting applied to your account. Queue times are extended for those who are penalized, and there's no way to fix this besides waiting it out.

Check Multiple Bosses
You can select multiple bosses on the rare chance that your chosen boss may just have a lower player count. Choose multiple targets on an expedition to improve your matchmaking queue times.
