Both the Demon in Pain and Demon from Below deal fire damage. With that in mind, make sure to build up your fire damage negation.
You can look for weapons that offer Fire Damage Negation, as well as the Improved Affinity Damage Negation Dormant Power. Additionally, stock up on Boiled Crabs to increase your resistance to the bosses' physical attacks.
Attack Affinities and Element Guide

Though both Demon bosses share similar basic attacks, they differ in a few areas. The Demon from Below uses more aerial attacks and generally feels much more aggressive, while the Demon in Pain moves slower but has attacks that are easy to dodge.
Make sure to split them up. The Demon in Pain is the redder dragon, and the Demon from Below is the lighter yellow one. Melee fighters can tank the latter and block its attacks, while ranged players focus on the former.
