Matchmaking in Elden Ring Nightreign works by setting the same password as your friends and commencing the expedition. Learn how to join friends and party up together online.

How to Join Party

Step-by-step Guide

Elden Ring Nightreign Multiplayer Password
Under Multiplayer Password, set a unique password that you and up to 2 other friends will use to join the same lobby.

Elden Ring Nightreign Commence Expedition
After setting the unique password, go to the main Target menu and then click Commence Expedition. This will start Matchmaking.

Elden Ring Nightreign Matchmaking
Your game will only matchmake with players who have the same Multiplayer Password as you, so make sure your 2 other friends set the same unique password.

Requires Three Players to Start

An expedition will only begin once three players are matched together, as there is no two-player mode.

However, if you have two players in your lobby already, both players can select Commence Expedition to automatically start recruitment for a third player, either through a Multiplayer Password, Invite Players, or Random Matching.

Why Isn't Matchmaking Working?

Try Turning Region Matching On

If you're trying to match with a player from another region, be sure that you have Cross-Region Play set to Perform Matchmaking. If this setting is off, you will not be able to match with another player even with a Multiplayer Password.

You'll still be able to match with any player using the Invite Members option even if cross-region matching is set to Off.

Disable Remembrances if not Finding Matches

Remembrance Match
If your selected character has a Remembrance objective active, you may have difficulties with matchmaking. To resolve this, temporarily disable the Remembrance from the Journal.

Do note that Remembrance Quest matchmaking requires a different lobby compared to regular matchmaking, which may prevent you from joining games or make queues harder.

Sometimes matches are bugged but the players online connections are solid. One way to fix this is to have one or two members in play cancel the expedition and rejoin with the same password to refresh the load and allow all three players to match.

There will be issues sometimes where either the game's matchmaking, the console or PC's network or other complications may cause problems with matchmaking and one of the first solutions is to either reset your game or your console of choice and try matchmaking again.

To prevent possible cheaters or punish griefers that drop games immediately, FromSoftware punishes accounts by giving them matchmaking penalties, which make matchmaking difficult or even impossible if constant failed connections occur.

To avoid this, finish your games accordingly or when network connection is limited, start in offline mode.
