We recommend fighting Grafted Monarch at Level 7 for a standard difficulty experience. If you wish for a greater challenge, you may fight this boss at lower levels.
Use Your Ultimate to Stop Swinging Attacks
Grafted Monarch has a lot of wide-ranged, swinging attacks that can be difficult to punish. You can interrupt this by using your Ultimate Arts ability and deal as much damage as you can afterward. With that said, it's best to save your Ultimates whenever Grafted Monarch does a swinging attack.
How to Charge Your Ultimate Gauge
Back Away from the Shockwaves
At a certain point, Grafted Monarch slams his axe into the ground, causing a shockwave. The boss then thrusts it deeper, unleashing a second, larger shockwave.
This move can be deceiving due to the delayed second shockwave. Once you see Grafted Monarch plant the axe into the ground, just back away and wait for the second shockwave to be over.
Avoid Tail Swipes in Phase 2
When Grafted Monarch's HP reaches half, it will start doing swipe attacks with its tail followed with a devastating ground strike. This move is heavily telegraphed, so dodge and keep a safe distance as soon as you see the boss show its yellow glowing tail.
Dodge and Avoid Combat When Targeted
When you're targeted by Grafted Monarch, it will attack you for five consecutive times, leaving you with little room to counter. It's best to just dodge and avoid combat until the boss de-aggros at you. Meanwhile, teammates can use this opportunity to attack Grafted Monarch from behind.

Fought as a Night Boss on Night 1
Grafted Monarch is one of the possible Night Bosses that appear at the end of the first night of an Expedition.
