If you get downed and your teammates fail to revive you during the day, your character will lose one Level and respawn at a random nearby location. Consecutive deaths will continue to reduce your level but will not drop below 2 levels from the original level.

Similiar to Elden Ring, dying also drops all your runes at the location you died after respawning. Dying before retrieving your dropped runes will permanently lose them so make sure you survive the journey back. Keep in mind that retrieving your runes will not bring back your original level but will still give you the runes you previously lost.
Additionally, enemies near your dropped runes also have a chance of snatching them. This requires you to defeat the enemy that snatched your runes before you can retrieve them for yourself.

If you get knocked down at Night, you will not be able to die and will have to wait to be rescued. Keep in mind that if all three of you and your teammates are down, this will result in a failed expedition where you will have to start another fresh run.
On the other hand, if you get knocked down during the Day and your teammates are not there to revive you in time, you will lose all your runes, reduce your level by one, and automatically respawn at a nearby location.

Each time you get knocked down or enter the Near-Death state, your Near-Death Gauge will start longer and increase until it fills up all three gauges. Your first Near-Death state will provide one gauge, the second one will give two gauges, while the third one and any Near-Death state after will start with three gauges.
Try to avoid getting knocked down as much as possible so your teammates can revive/rescue you much faster.
In addition to not being able to perform any actions, being in a Near-Death state will also lower your movement speed significantly. Make sure you are in a safe area before you request for a revive to make things easier for your teammates.
