Great Church locations are random in each expedition run and their layouts are determined by the type of enemy and boss present inside. Great Churches with an element icon indicate the element type of items and weapons you can obtain from them.

What to Do in Great Churches?
- Early Game Rune Farming
- Get Guaranteed Sacred Seals
- Get Fire, Lightning, or Holy Items and Weapons
- Climb the Scaffolding for More Loot
Farm for Runes on Day 1
Aim to visit Great Churches on Day 1, as the enemies there are quite easy to defeat. Defeating all enemies earns you enough runes to quickly get to level 4 or 5. This lets you take on tougher enemies and explore more challenging points of interests early.
What to Do First on Days 1 and 2
Get Guaranteed Sacred Seals
Great Churches guarantee a Sacred Seal drop when you interact with the altar. If you main the Revenant, it's a good idea to visit Great Churches for these drops.
Get Fire, Lightning, or Holy Items and Weapons
Weapons and items in Great Churches have either Fire, Lightning, or Holy elements. If bosses are weak to one of these elements, then it's good to visit Great Churches for equipment.
Climb the Scaffolding for More Loot
You can reach the second floor of the Great Church by climbing the scaffolding and opening the treasure chests. Follow the path along the second floor to find where to climb up. There may be some enemies present, so deal with them quickly and grab the loot.
Depending on the layout of the Great Church, the altar can sometimes be found on the second floor, so it's a good idea to learn how to climb them for future runs.
